Lee’s Summit Radon Testing

What’s Radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring cancer-causing chemical. Radon is scientifically proven to lead to lung cancer in humans.

Many homes in the Lee’s Summit area have a radon gas concentration near or above the actionable level.

Radon filters out of the silt, not the building. No house, new or old, is fully shielded from radon gas.

Every home interacts with the dirt differently. That is why homes adjacent to one another may have significantly different radon gas saturation.

Radon gas concentration will change every day and seasonally within a reasonable range. A one-time radon measurement measures a single day or week and is a reliable metric of if the home has a radon issue.

Radon has a dangerous duration of 3.8 days. That means radon gas accumulation won’t be any higher if the house is sealed for months, days, or years.

How Does Radon Gas Filter into your structure?

It may surprise you to know that homes are not gas-proof.

Gas will enter through each penetration in the property such as sump pumps, plumbing, and small cracks in the concrete work.

The method to know with confidence the accumulation of radon in the abode is to run a radon test.

Our Radon Gas Test Procedure

Probing a house for radon is a special process when delivering a property transaction.

Our radon gas professional will situate the radon gas detectors on the property. Radon gas probes will be dropped off in crawl spaces and on the first floor. On average several analyzers are located in the house for the radon gas test.

Your radon gas professional will shut windows, seal the damper on the fireplace, and confirm the heater or AC is functioning in the prescribed manner. Your radon gas expert will also treat all indicated windows with anti-tampering tape to make sure that ventilation requirements are maintained.

The radon devices remain in the structure for a few days measuring the prevalence of radon gas in the home. A technician will revisit the home after the radon measurement is done to recover the monitors and write a report.

I would recommend Crown Home Inspections to anyone looking for a thorough home inspection. We were assigned two gentlemen both by the name of Travis (one who did our thorough home inspection and the other who completed our sewer scope). … More Both were prompt, professional and courteous and both took the time to explain their findings and answer all questions to ensure we understood. We were very pleased with both of them. Thank you Crown Home Inspections!

I liked this inspector. Although I never met him, it sounded like he was very helpful for my agent understanding what may be wrong in my soon to be new house. I am 2 states away and unfortunately am too busy at the moment to make it. He … More caught quite a few more faults than a previous buyer’s inspector caught in the span of a month. Some of the paperwork was a little hard to understand the faults, but had I been there, I could have questioned what those faults meant. I don’t blame the inspector, that is my fault. This is why it is important for someone to be present at their prospective home’s inspection. All in all, I am happy with their services. I give him an A!
